So much for my Friday...

Today is Friday.  No swimming lessons, no errands to run.  A beautiful open-the-windows kind of day after a week of 110+ degrees.
A whole day set in front of me in which to complete laundry and perhaps the painting of the bedroom.

7:30 AM, reading blogs & having my coffee.  Bliss.

THEN....

I happened to show Faith a photo of what I would like to (eventually) do in the coat closet.  Eventually.  Not today.  Maybe not even this year.

Before I could blink, she had the whole coat closet emptied.  Wanted to know where she should put everything.  (!!!!!!!!)

My formerly immaculate master bedroom closet is now filled with things for which I need to find room.

Today is going to be a loooooong day.  This was all before 8 AM.

Summer Domesticity

Summer is in full swing now.  Swimming lessons began this morning.  Our first trip, of many, to the library.
Here at home, we are all pitching in to make the house sparkle.

We are starting him early.

Faith learned to make pizza crust and helped with the toppings.

Daddy is still stuck in Georgia at Ft. Gordon.  We will all have to wait and see how that plays out.  He wants to go back to theater.  The army wants him to go home.... Stay tuned!

Wasps & Coughing

Hey, we tried.  Drove out to Tolleson to meet (and swim with) another family of a Neuro NICU graduate.  Emilio refused to play in the pool because of some wasps.  Swimming caused Faith uncontrollable coughing fits.  Joaquin fell asleep in the pool.

Lazy Summer Days...

Sam & Emilio helped clean house, so they earned time playing the gameboy.

First Day of Summer Vacation

This called for an adventure of sorts.  With "Harry Potter & The Socerer's Stone" in the van's DVD player, we set out.

Fortified with McD's fries (and new shrek toys), we hit the highway.

The far-off land of Scottsdale beckoned.

Views from the road.

The purpose of today's journey was to add to Joaquin's cloth diaper stash.

Our adventure concluded with a surprise stop at Yodipity on the way home.

9 months ago this week, our sunshine was born.  He was born without any signs of life.  We were told he wouldn't live.

It took 18 minutes to bring him back.  His little heart failed almost as soon as it got started.  He had to be hooked to a machine to make his heart pump and his lungs to fill and empty.  His brain had been deprived of so much oxygen that doctors cooled his little head and body to prevent the damage from going further.

We were prepared to say goodbye for now, if it was God's Will.

But, The Lord said, "...not now..."

His lack of challenges make no sense to doctors.  They say he's a miracle.  Doctors who have seen everything.  His Ways are not our ways.

He crawls.  He tells the puppies to "DET! (Get!)" He "sings".  He explores.  He has reminded us that God is in control.

In my heart, my babies turning 9 months is always important to me.  They've been out in the world as long as they were growing inside of me.  This is my own little celebration.

Joaquin is 9 months.  Amazing.

Invention Convention 2010

Tonight was the district-wide "Invention Convention".  Every kid that goes to Gifted Enrichment classes thought up an invention, or an improvement to an existing product.  Their ideas were put on posterboards in the gymnasium at our school.  Awards were given for each grade.

Faith's invention involved typing a few commands into a microwave and having whatever fast food you desire popping up inside.  "The Fastfood Microwave".

A girl after my heart.....
